Tour and Trek of Kumaon Himalaya
Location
Kumaon, Uttarnchal, Himalaya
Overview
Bound on the north by Tibet, on the east by Nepal, on the south by the state of Uttar Pradesh and on the west by Garhwal, Kumaon is chiefly associated with the majestic, but the quickly disappearing tigers that frequent the Corbett National Park. But there is a lot more that the region offers than the striped beauties. Snow clad peaks and the gurgling, pure waters of the Mahakali River makes Kumaon a great destination for adventure enthusiasts. History abounds here as evidences of Stone Age settlements have been found and paintings here date back to the mesolithic-chacolithic period. The lower Kumaon hills have a large number of ‘tals’ or lakes mostly formed as a result of active tectonics in the region. Nainital, Bhimtal and Sattal are magnificent in their natural beauty. Areas around Nainital are also one of the last habitats of the disappearing enigmatic Himalayan Quail. Kumaon lets you explore any or all these wonders and even more. From relatively easy walks to hardcore treks designed for the seasoned trekker, this place has limitless adventures waiting for you!
