Uttaranchal
This is a two week long trip that includes a drive to Gangotri which is the source of the holy River Ganga and then a trek to the magnificient kedar tal. It is one of the finest lakes in the Himalayas, and the trail is punctuated with breath taking views of snow capped peaks.The lake is the brightest shade of emerald green your eyes have ever seen. The river Kedarganga originates from the Kedar glacier and eventually joins the Bhagirathi.The entire route is enriched with flora and fauna typical to these mountains, and has ample scope for wildlife expeditions. The trek is a little strenous but the breath-taking views totally compensates for the strained hamstrings. The trek commences from Haridwar. From here, drive down to Uttarkashi. It is situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi and is a truely picturesque spot. The next halt would be at gangotri.From here starts the trekking segment of the journey. Trek to Bhoj kharak. The trail follows the meandering course of the Kedar ganga. Next day trek to Kedar Kharak. Massive snow clad peaks tower over you as you ascend the mountains. It is all in all truely mesmerising.The next day trek to kedar tal. The trail is pretty steep and involves climbing of some rock faces. But the glorious sight of sunset over Kedar tal will make you forget all the hardships faced enroute. From here, retrace your way back to Bhoj Kharak and then subsequently to Gangotri. From Gangotri, travel to Uttarkashi and hence conclude your journey.
