Shivagange Adventure Trail

Location

Shivagange

Overview

A popular excursion spot, only a stone’s throw away from Bangalore, the Shivaganga hill offers an exciting destination for trekking with a  panoramic view of the scenic valley beneath. Shivagange gets its name from the Holy places and temples it hosts. The unique feature of the hill is, that it looks like a bull (Nandi) from the East, a Ganesha from the West, a Linga from the South and a cobra from the North. A flight of steep steps leads  to the shrines of Gavi Gangadhareshwara Cave temple and Honnadevi temple. The spring water found here is considered to be the sacred water of the 'Gange'.  The place being atop a huge collection of boulders and solid granite rock structures,   invites  rock climbers and adventure lovers all year round. Enjoy trekking over the rock crevices in the moon light on a full moon night. The hill looks even more sinister and mysterious when crossed at night, with only the moon throwing a silver blanket over it. No lights to be seen or sounds to be heard within miles of this hill top on such nights. Though there are no etched out routes, there are  plenty  of opportunities for rock face climbing for adventure lovers in Shivagange. The greatest attraction of this destination happens to be not only that it is a good weekend getaway locale, but also provides ample opportunities for adventure sports and group activities. With the wide range of activities offered by this place, one can also spend more than a day or two, exploring the truly multifaceted hill top of Shivagange
