Overview

The trek to Bakariya Top & Dayara Bugyals is one of the lesser known & most spectacular treks of the Gangotri Region. In local dialect, Bugyal means 'high altitude meadow'. Dayara Bugyal is to Uttaranchal what Khajjiar (Dalhousie) is to Himachal Pradesh. Perched near Bhatwari on the Uttarkashi-Gangotri (27 kms. from Uttarkashi) highway, Dayara Bugyal is an unspoilt wonder. During winters it provides excellent ski-ing slopes, over an area of 28 sq. kms. On this trek, you will traverse this great Himalayan range and appreciate the sheer geographic diversity – from the verdant, forested valleys to the flowered meadows (thatch) carpeted with wildflowers. Combine this with an interest in the variety of birds, wildlife, forest and wildflowers and an opportunity to view the splendid snow-capped peaks.... and you have all the ingredients for a highly rewarding trekking holiday in HEAT 2008 this summer. This trek is suitable even for those who want to take a leisurely walk and are not particularly interested in an arduous trek.

Itinerary

Duration : 9 Nights / 10 Days

Day 01 : Arrive at Delhi, Proceed to Haridwar ~ 200kms/ 6hrs by Road
Overnight journey in 2x2 non a/c coaches.
Day 02 : Arrive at Haridwar by Mornng. drive to Base camp ~ 190kms/ 7hrs by Road
Base camp at village Raithal (2100m)
Day 03 : Acclimatization day ~ Trek 6kms/ 4hrs
day is free for adventure activities such as rock climbing,Rappelling etc.,
Day 04 : Trek from base camp – Goi Thatch (camp I) – 2880M ~ Trek 6kms/ 4hrs.
pleasant trek through the forest having dense foliage & waterfalls.
Day 05 : Camp I – Dayara Bugyals (Camp II) – (3365M) ~ Trek 5Kms/ 4hrs.
gradual traverse climbing to Dayara Bugyals. breathtaking views of the Himalayan range.
Day 06 : Day trek to Bakariya Top (3804 M) ~ Trek 7Kms/ 5hrs.
Closest views of Mt. Bandarpoonch range of peaks.Mt. Sri Kanta, Mt Gangotri group of peaks and Mt Jaonli.
Day 07 : Camp II – Taal camp (Camp III)(2650M) ~ Trek 5Kms/ 3hrs.
descend down to forest camp at Taal. This area is rich in bird life.
Day 08 : Camp III to Base camp ~ Trek 7Kms/ 4hrs.
traverse back to base camp, Lunch at the base camp. Evening free at leisure.
Day 09 : Drive Raithal - Haridwar ~ 190kms/ 6hrs.
Drive back to Haridwar after breakfast. Lunch enroute at Rishikesh. Post lunch
free to visit the holy towns of Rishikesh & Haridwar. After dinner, depart for Delhi.
Day 10 : Arrive at Delhi by early morning.
